PRIVACY POLICY
Reasons, Optimism and Recovery (ROR)
Effective: September 18, 2026
ROR understands that your recovery journey is deeply personal, and we take the privacy and confidentiality of your information seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights available to you.
A Note on Health Information: Because ROR includes sobriety tracking, mental health and addiction-related content, and access to outpatient therapy, some of the information you share with us is health-related and may be subject to additional legal protections beyond this Privacy Policy, including confidentiality rules that specifically protect substance use disorder treatment records. Where you receive Therapy Services through ROR, you will also be provided with a separate Notice of Privacy Practices describing how your clinical/health records are handled.

3. Confidentiality of Health and Recovery Information
- 3.1 Information related to your substance use, recovery progress, and any Therapy Services you receive is treated as sensitive and is subject to stricter confidentiality protections than general account information, including applicable healthcare privacy laws and, where applicable, federal confidentiality rules specific to substance use disorder treatment records.
- 3.2 We do not disclose information that identifies you as having sought or received substance use disorder treatment through ROR to outside parties without your consent, except as permitted or required by applicable law (for example, a medical emergency, a valid court order, or as otherwise permitted under applicable confidentiality regulations).
- 3.3 If you use Therapy Services, a separate Notice of Privacy Practices will describe in more detail how your protected health information is used and disclosed, and your rights with respect to those records.
4. Community Forums and Information Sharing
- 4.1 Content you post in moderated forums or anonymous chat groups may be visible to other users of that community feature. While these features are designed to support anonymity, please avoid sharing directly identifying details you would not want associated with your participation.
- 4.2 We do not share your identity as linked to specific forum posts with other users beyond what you choose to disclose yourself, except as necessary for moderation and safety purposes.
- 4.3We may share information with: - Service Providers: Vendors who help us operate the Platform, such as hosting, analytics, customer support, payment processing, and, where applicable, the technology enabling Therapy Services. - Clinicians: If you use Therapy Services, relevant information is shared with your treating clinician to enable your care. - Legal and Safety Purposes: When required by law, or where necessary to prevent serious harm to you or others. - Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and, for health-related records, applicable confidentiality requirements. - With Your Consent: For any other purpose you’ve agreed to.

5. Cookies and Tracking
- 5.1 The Platform may use cookies, mobile SDKs, or similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, understand app usage, and improve performance and security.
- 5.2 You can manage cookies and tracking preferences through your browser or device settings. Where required by law, we will provide an appropriate consent mechanism.
6. Marketing Communications
- 6.1 We may send marketing communications about ROR features or updates, where you have opted in or as otherwise permitted by law.
- 6.2 You may opt out at any time by adjusting notification settings in the App or contacting us at [Support Email]. You will continue to receive essential account, billing, and service communications even after opting out of marketing.
7. Third-Party Services
- 7.1 The Platform relies on third-party service providers, including cloud hosting, analytics, payment processing, and, where applicable, telehealth infrastructure supporting Therapy Services.
- 7.2 These providers process information as necessary to deliver their services to us, under confidentiality and data protection commitments appropriate to the sensitivity of the information involved.
- 7.3 The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store, each of which collects certain information under its own privacy policy, independent of ROR.
8. Data Security
- 8.1 We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of health-related information.

10. User Privacy Rights
- 10.1 Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Where information is subject to healthcare-specific confidentiality protections (see Section 3), those specific rules govern access and disclosure of that information.

- 11.1 You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by using the account deletion option within the App (where available) or by contacting [Support Email].

- 12.1 The Platform is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
